Innovative Intersections that incorporate U-Turns have a remarkable ability to significantly improve safety and operations at a very low cost. This course will start at the basics to describe the principles behind U-Turn intersections and what makes them so successful. The first half of the course will deal mainly with unsignalized versions of U-Turn intersections which include Access Management principals, rural J-Turns, and suburban J-Turns. The second half of the course will go into details on signalized versions of U-Turn intersections. Superstreets, Median U-Turns (aka Michigan Lefts), and Jughandles will be covered in this half. By the end of the course, participants will understand the effectiveness of these designs and will have many different types of applications to potentially implement in the future.

Target Audience: All transportation professionals. The course will start with the basics and progress into advanced topics that all should understand.
